Fundraising Ireland and the ICSA issued a joint press release yesterday calling on Dublin City Council to reverse its proposal not to grant planning permission for charity shops on Grafton Street and its environs. Download the press release here
Paul Hughes, Chair of the ICSA said,"We absolutely agree with Dublin City Council that charity shops should apply for and comply with planning permission. However, the Council is cutting this option off because it is stating that planning permission will not be granted to charity shops from the outset. Our aim is to promote good practice and high standards in charity retailing and we want to co-operate with Dublin City Council to ensure that this is maintained."
Anne Hanniffy, CEO of Fundraising Ireland, said on RTE Radio 1 Morning Ireland today that, according to their research, 25% of all cash donations are made through charity shops. Listen back here
