Ireland’s first Trustees’ Week will take place from November 13-17. The week is being organised by the Charities Regulator, The Wheel, Charities Institute Ireland, Dóchas, the Carmichael Centre, Boardmatch Ireland and Volunteer Ireland.
Trustees’ Week has a number of aims:

  • To celebrate and thank charity trustees for the key role which they play in the governance and leadership of Ireland’s charities;
  • To highlight the importance of good governance of boards, promote the need for a thorough knowledge of trustees’ roles and responsibilities, education and upskilling of trustees;
  • To highlight the need for new trustees to come forward, and highlight the means by which new trustees can be connected with charities that need trustees.

Please see below for a list of events including the Charities Regulator's events in Limerick and Dublin

For its part, the Charities Regulator will host public meetings in Limerick (November 13) and Dublin (November 15). The centrepiece of these will be to showcase the new e-learning module for trustees (which will be hosted on www.charitiesregulator.ie, the Charities Regulator website). There will be case studies from a number of charity trustees and a short presentation by Boardmatch Ireland on how to become a charity trustee. They currently have over 370 charities on their books who are seeking to recruit trustees.
