Catherine Marie Fricker - Oxfam Rathmines - Martin Kenny Volunteer of the Year 2017

Catherine is a very worthy winner and has proved to be an exceptional volunteer.

In the words of her Manager, Barth Bialek, who nominated her for the award:-

"Catherine Marie has been volunteering in the Oxfam Rathmines shop for a long time. she started her volunteering duties by helping sorting donations and pricing. After couple of years she managed to learn most things about the shop and its customers. Now, Catherine is supervising the shop during Sunday and Bank Holiday trade. She is extremely committed and responsible. She has excellent record of time keeping, fantastic organisational skills and customer service that is beyond expectations.

Karen Glass, IWA Ardee - Shop Manager of the Year 2017

Karen was nominated by no less than 8 volunteers and a TUS worker from her shop.

They all sang her praises as a kind, warm approachable person who has great community spirit. Her creative shop windows have won several awards in the town. In the words of one volunteer:-

Michael Wall, Karen Glass and Tomás McCluskey IWA

Karen is an excellent team leader and manager of the IWA shop in Ardee. She is highly respected by all the team members. She has helped us by supporting us but still allowing us to work independently. Her knowledge of the shop is second to none and she always makes time to listen and talk to customers, staff and donors. Karen sets high standards for herself and the team and in doing so has made the IWA shop in Ardee a success. I believe the shop has done well because we have a selfless, caring manager at the helm.
