Leo Varadkar has announced a new support scheme for small businesses - Small Business Assistance Scheme for COVID (SBASC). Applications are now open for businesses ineligible for CRSS and other sector specific grants. Here are the details in summary:
  • €4,000 grant for Q1 2021
  • For businesses not eligible for other support schemes
  • Available to companies, self-employed, sole traders or partnerships
  • For premises in receipt of a rates bill from their local authority
  • For help with fixed costs, rent, utility bills, security
  • Must have turnover of over €50,000 (doesn't state for what period this is, assume it is annual?)
  • Turner in Q1 2021 must be no more than 25% of average weekly turnover in 2019 (not difficult as all shops are closed)
  • Must resume trading in full once restrictions are eased
  • Payment via local authorities based on an online application
  • Scheme will be run on a first-come-first-served basis
  • Closing date 21st April
