Job Description & Skills Required

Reporting to: Community Employment Supervisor and Chairperson 

Function: To assist in ensuring the effective and efficient direction and co-ordination of the human, financial and material resources of the project.

Location: Blanchardstown with significant travel.

 Administration

  • Assist in the preparation of financial returns, wages claims and participant development grant claims as deemed appropriate.
  • Assist in the installation and provision of all recording and tracking systems as may be required by the Supervisor, the Sponsor and or DSP.
  • Effective Induction, training and progression recording.
  • Ensure security of cash/equipment.

Training and Development

  • To fully participate in the Assistant and Supervisor Development Programme.
  • To assist in sourcing and costing effective training/development opportunities to meet the needs identified of each participant on the project.

Human Resources

  • To provide effective supervisory cover in the absence of the Community Employment Supervisor.
  • To assist in planning and co-ordinating the agreed/approved work schedules for participants. To assist in induction and training and training plans for participants.

Community Employment

  • Assist the Sponsor in providing a safe and healthy environment for participants both in terms of facilities and work practices.
  • Assist in the Supervision, scheduling and control of participants to ensure best returns to Sponsor.
  • Carry out any other function relevant to the position of Assistant Supervisor as indicated by Sponsor from time to time.

As the Retail Supervisor you will have accountability for growing sales and profitability within the store as well as dealing directly with all customer queries and actively selling from the shop floor.

The Retail Supervisor will receive training in all aspects of the operation of Age Action’s retail store operation and gain in-depth experience in all aspects of our work.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience in the retail sector is desirable
  • Knowledge of retail management best practices desirable
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Excellent organising and leadership skills
  • Full clean driving license desirable but not essential
  • Commercial awareness
  • Analytical mind and familiarity with data analysis principles

These are fixed term Part – time contracts which may be extended. The persons appointed must be flexible regarding working hours to include weekends. The post based in Camden St, Dublin 2 is for a 12 month fixed term and the second post in Terenure, Dublin 6 is for a six month fixed term (both of which may be extended).

Sales Assistant
Location: Dun Laoghaire.
Duties: 

  • To assist in the day to day running of the shop including stocking shelves, sorting stock, pricing stock, stock rotation and cash register duties.
  • Ensuring window displays are attractive
  • Any other reasonable duties requested by the shop management.

Selected candidate will receive in house training to assist Brides in their quest for the perfect gown in Barnardos Bridal Rooms.

Fashion Stock Assistant
Location: 
Ballycoolin Dublin 15 - The warehouse is not on a bus route, and transport would be needed to get to this location.
Duties:
To assist in the day to day running of the warehouse including, unloading and loading stock, label removal, stock taking duties, pricing and tagging, preparation of merchandise for delivery, participation in the Barnardos pop-up shops and any other reasonable duties requested by the shop management. Must have a keen interest in fashion.

All posts are 19.5 hours per week, and are subject to DSP eligibility requirements.

To be eligible for CE you must be in receipt of a payment from the DSP for a minimum of twelve months.

NCBI Retail: The National Council for the Blind Ireland often has vacancies for Retail Sales Assistants in our charity shops.

The role involves preparing and receiving stock, tagging and pricing of second hand goods and clothing, cash register sales, merchandising and general customer service.

Retail sales support people with sight loss through NCBI.

 

Hours of Work: 19.5 hrs per week
